Check-In Post December 16th 2023

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Haha good thought. You might have also ended up with one longer arm warmer.

Fair picture as promised

So, the first picture of the fair has arrived; it's not the best one, taken fairly late, when half my stuff was gone, but at least gives you an idea:

On the left side is our art teacher and a dear friend for over 28 years. As you can see, we were the careful ones, wearing masks. *g* A friend took photos before the start of the fair; if they've turned out well, you'll be able to see my wares in more detail as well as me without the mask. You'll probably think the mask was an advantage, hehehe...

Definitely wise to wear a mask! I hope the fair was a smashing success!

Oh yes, it was. I almost reached last year's record; and considering that last year I had a great deal more stuff to sell (since before that the fairs were cancelled due to the pandemic), I see that as a great success indeed.

It all looks great.

Considering children are always covered in germs, masks are a good precaution!

This morning I made the year's snowflakes for my nieces and nephews. I don't have a picture of my finished ones yet as they are pinned out and marinating in starch, but it's snowflake #5 from the book 99 Snowflakes. Here's the Ravelry page: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snowflake--5

I had an unplanned grocery shopping trip today. On the one hand: good, because I got all the ingredients for my Christmas cookies bar one (they were out of marshmallow fluff, boo). I'll go elsewhere for the fluff on Monday. On the other hand: grrr because I planned to do a LOT of crochet today on the poinsettia, and this took some of my precious time.

I've printed out the pattern for petal C, and plan to make all 3 of them today. They're pretty small so it should be doable. Then if time allows, I want to finish the Petal A I started, and do another one. I'd better go get cracking, so off I go!

Baking and crafting at the same time isn't easy.

Hopefully with the shopping out of the way that gives you more time later.

Made snowflake #3 earlier today, then spent most of the afternoon finishing the deep clean of the living room. Bleh. I'm relaxing with a cup of green tea & lemon.

Bought more wool today. Some was the wool I was short on before as I never made it into the city to buy extra, and some is new finds online (didn't need but pretty). Still have to pay the postage but as it was all 40% off doesn't hurt so much. Still cheaper than if I'd bought it in town. Will probably arrive after we wrap up for the year so I'll have to wait until new year as it's being shipped to the work address.
Dabbling here and there craft/baking wise. Will post an update on life at my journal sometime when I can catch up on everything else.

I've been super busy with Mall book things and two markets as well, testing the waters with sales etc, and we got some nice photos of the new Red, silk gowne which I finished 2 days ago and have worn for the last 2 days. Pgotos to follow, but it's such a wonderful colour!
