Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I had a very busy day but I made some crafting progress, too. 9 out of the 12 mini sewing kits are now equipped with the little lashes that will close them, complete with the decorative buttons and half the Velcro work. I'm proud of myself!

Ouch! That sounds like a lot of hard work!

Made it through one row today, even though I messed up because I thought I could multitask and it turned out I could not. All good though! Just too busy to get any work done on this before it needed to be finished (in 10 days haha).

You should be proud of yourself, excellent work!

It sounds like you got a lot done, even if it wasn't crafting!

I've heard of people pouting near boiling water to do that, but I would probably trip while hustling outside with the kettle.

That is a good lot. And *Velcro.*

Lol oh no.

No crafting for me either. I did work at John's house for a bit.

Yesterday and today, I knitted my first ever mitten. Technically, the pattern is for fingerless mittens, so really a wrist warmer? Still counting it for the mitt-athon. One is completely knitted and sewn together and I'm halfway through knitting the other. I'm using scrap yarn, so they won't match, but they coordinate. The pattern is full of problems, despite it's simplicity and made slightly more complicated in that the pattern exists in written form and video tutorial form and they don't match, even though they were made by the same person. The video did help a lot, but I am not recommending this to anyone.

Today, I also tried working on the knitted web again and I am just not getting it. The first three rows, I think I am doing okay, everything goes wrong with the 4th row. I'm not sure if I'm too inexperienced and just missing something or if the pattern is bad or part of it is missing maybe? I don't remember what site I originally got the pattern link from and the website the pattern was originally on is gone, so the pattern is actually off the way back machine... so I may be just stuck.

I also did more prompt research, mostly to avoid my own writing, cause that's not going great.

I'm hoping tomorrow I feel a bit better. The weather pattern is supposed to change and that usually helps.

Well done on the driveway clean up! As for moss in the crevices, boiling water can work and my mother swears by vinegar (or leftover pickle juice).

Excellent!

He's trying to make some sketches for contractor quotes.

I walked around with him and I am going to specifically organize the metal recycling. He's done a big load before but there's a lot of little stuff.

I agree you should look for a different web pattern.

Congrats on your mitten!

Yay for the mitten!
It's frustrating when you try to work with a bad pattern. *commiserates*

You are such a good neighbour!

I'm trying to put every free minute to good use. The workload still before me is moderately frightening.
Sunday, October 8th, 2023 05:23 pm (UTC)
I am! I didn't expect to get even this much done.

Yeah. Velcro. Only half of it - and the easier half at that. When the other half is done I'll breathe easier. Stitching on 12 pieces of self-adhesive Velcro patches is a real punishment, even if it's only one stitch a piece. I don't trust the self-adhesive part to hold on its own when a mini-kit is opened frequently enough.

Nah, I'm trying to be reasonable about the whole thing.

Thanks! :D

Yeah, I'm going to have to. It's just disappointing.

Thank you!
