Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I survived this morning's appointment, and I didn't get hopelessly lost. Almost, but not quite; if I'd been alone, I would have gone the wrong way. This is inside the building, not getting there. The place I have to go is a maze, but I escaped. I am not, however, a contortionist. The radiographer was very sweet, but I don't bend like that so now my back hurts. Maybe I should get some physio exercises for it.


On a brighter note, I managed to fit in a bit of cross stitch this morning before I had to leave, so I finished the first shade of green on the long leaves, and all of the second shade. One more green to go and I can move on to the next part of the design. There are three elements left to stitch, then the backstitch.

Ugh, sorry about your back. Back pain can be really unpleasant. But it's great that you made such nice progress on the cross stitch.

I've finished another seven Christmas ornament today: four smaller baubles (with a diameter of 5 cm), two larger ones (with a diameter of 7cm or so, I'm not sure) and one irregular ornament, for which I used a cookie cutter as a template. *g* I'll make a group pic of all the baubles, assuming the sun deigns to show its face tomorrow - and then return to my mini sewing kits.

My back protests whenever I do anything out of the ordinary these days. Thankfully it feels better now I've been sitting for a while.

Considering I didn't think I'd have time for crafting today, I was very happy.

The only other thing I accomplished today was a quick trip to the library to pick up this year's reading challenge card, which turned into also entering the "how much candy is in the box" challenge, filling out a "Halloween name" name tag, checking out 2 books, asking the adult services director 3 questions, grabbing the October events schedule, and scolding my mother for trying to steal the black cat off the Halloween display. (I am fairly certain she was joking, but not totally.) The prize this year is a glow in the dark drink tumbler and to finish, you just have to make a line on a 3x3 bingo card. At least 3 of the fills don't even involve reading. Center square is entering the "how much candy in the box" challenge. And one of the books I picked up to fill a prompt on the card also happens to be the next bookclub book apparently. It was like 15 minutes, but a very accomplished 15 minutes. Lol.

It's a lot better now, it's the the positions I had to get into. Last time I went, I got my ear caught on the machine. Still don't know how.

It's coming along well, the benefits of working on high count fabric with one strand of thread. If it was 14 count and two strands, I'd still be on the second leaf, trying to keep the thread from twisting.

It really was. Always! And yet there are people that complain it has nothing going on.

I found it hilarious, but also painful. I'm the kind of person unlikely things tend to happen to, unfortunately. I left my studs at home this time as a precaution. I have two in each ear.

What does it take to satisfy some people?

They advertise on local radio, in the local newspaper, on Facebook, and on their website in multiple places. Inside the library itself, it has its programs advertised on large posters on the bulletin board in the lobby (the bulletin board is an entire wall), there are pamplets updated monthly that are on a table next to the book return, there is a table by the main desk with event displays, the self checkout machines have the programs scroll by on the touch screen display, and there are relevant signs and posters throughout the library. I have decided some people just need to invent things to be mad about.

There's literally nothing more your library can do to publicise events. Some people just like to complain. They probably just don't like the events on offer.

Exactly. There is a small percentage of them that are trying to use what they assume is a lack of programming as a way to get a foot in the door to make more sinister complaints, but they are quickly shut down and in the minority. Most of them just seem to be clueless and seem to think library programs should deliver engraved invitations onto their laps.
