Check-In Post August 17th 2023

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Finished part B today!

I realised this morning that I'd done it wrong, actually; it doesn't say so in the chart, but if I'd knit two stitches together when putting the part A pieces together, it would've had the right number of stitches to do part B the way I initially tried to do it (the way that was the reason I had to start over). I was really upset about it - it doesn't look bad or unintentional, but it isn't right, and I was worried about it, but once I finished part B as written, I took a look at how many stitches I had and how many I should be starting part C with. Other people noted on Ravelry that they had to repeat rows 34 and 35 before starting part C, so I worked out a way to do that that looks alright and gives me the right number of stitches.

It's probably all for the best anyway - the way I did it gave me more increases, but in measuring it, as it currently stands it's exactly the right size and if I'd done it the way I was supposed to do it, it'd be too small. I keep being a little worried about the shaping but when I lay it against myself it looks fine; I'm much curvier than the model on the pattern so I suppose it makes sense that my slightly different shape looks better on me. If it ends up being a problem I have an idea of how to deal with it but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Meaning the baby book. I've managed the binding with one minor mistake that is barely visible, unless you know what to look for. Phew!

I've also selected a few pieces of patterned felt left over from earlier projects and will turn them into little purses for the charity fair. It is quick and easy work (or so I hope) that I can do on days when I don't have enough time to work on the felt book.

Having a fairly good day. I did some weeding in the north flowerbed and went to John's, pulled nails and staples out of more scrap wood. Now deciding between crochet and reading.

John is starting to put the roof on now (he's my neighbor & his house caught fire Christmas morning). He went for a flat roof instead of rebuilding the half story/attic. His original plan for this type would be to make the whole roof a patio, hope that works out!

Dragging my feet (lol) on making some hooves for this little Cult of the Lamb doll, because I'm worried I won't be able to make them look good and but also allow him to stand on his own with his gargantuan head :/
