Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I've made another 10 spiders and cut out the last 20 pairs of eyes. Now it's just a matter of making up the rest of the spiders.

Today I finished Blinky the Pac-Man Ghost, or an attempt at it. (The original.) I'm a little disheartened that it doesn't look more like the example.

My painting job nears its conclusion: all lolly sticks are now coloured and the little laser-cut items all have one layer of coat, too. I'll add some patterns or highlights later, but right now they are ready to be boxed and put away until, let's say, October or so.

All that's left to do is to paint the other side of the apricot pits. I've collected (and boiled and dried) some 60 of the things, most of which will have a ground colour (red, green, white, indigo and the likes) and later decorated to look like fantasy bugs. I'll put them into toilet rolls wrapped in Christmas paper, and they'll be sold as surprise gifts on the charity fair.

We've had a lot going on. But I've been working on a different yarn test placemat (liking this better overall). Today I make THE German chocolate cake for dad's birthday, they are coming tomorrow.

It's called that because there was a chocolate company called German and they developed the recipe. It has pecans and coconut in the frosting. 3 thin layers.

Hi, I’m new to DW and I’m hoping this isn’t super awkward, but I’m liking the vibe of this community.

Right now I’m procrastinating on a casual dress I’m sewing by hand. I recently had made a t-shirt by hand and that took me about a month to make. But I ran out of steam on this dress and I know I need to pick it up again and just get it done.

Been knitting away on the not-a-baby-blanket and generally feeling crummy, but I do have some good news. On my way home from the library yesterday, I discovered we have a local yarn store again. It's only been open a couple months and the in store stock is a little small, but it looks like they might have the knitting supplies I've been looking for and she's willing to order just about anything I need for me. It's a one woman operation and it was very close to closing time when I got there, but we had quite the chat.

Hello and welcome! No awkwardness whatsoever, I'm always delighted to welcome a new member to our happy band of crafters!

I admire your ability to hand-sew clothes, that can't be easy. Then again, I can't even make clothes with a sewing machine, I don't have the patience. Running out of steam on a project, especially a big one that takes a lot of time and effort, is a bit of a nightmare. You want it done, but you don't actually want to do it. Maybe if you set yourself a short amount of time each day to work on it, say 15 minutes, you'll find yourself making progress and get back into the groove. Picking it up again is often the hardest part, but once you do, sometimes you can regain momentum.

It was born of the fact that I collected cherry pits for the little pillows I was planning to make. At the same time I was making apricot jam; I looked at the pits and thought: why not try something with those, too?
