Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

"Only" 60 more bases to cut? Holy cow, you're starting an independent spider industry!

I've started working on the baby book in earnest. This time I'm doing it backwards, starting with the embellishments as long as I'm still motivated. Today I finished two of the 12 "diary" cards, which are meant to write up the baby's weight, height and milestones in each month. The decoration is detailed, which means I can use up a lot of my paper scraps. It's fun. The baby isn't done until early September, as I've learned, so I think I'll make something really elaborate this time. At least that's the plan. We'll see if I can pull it through.

Hooray! Lots of good progress.

Working on the embellishments while you've got the motivation sounds like a great plan.

Another row on the infinity scarf!

Motivation is a moody thing. One has to go for it as long as it's there. *g*

So far I am. I hope it will last for a while. ;)

I did a lot of knitting today. I only have 12 rows and the bottom border left on the fourth not-a-baby-blanket. While I still need to do 2 more, after this one is done, I am going to take a break and work on something else knitting wise for a bit. It's one of the reasons I'm trying to finish this one so quickly. I want to already be started on a different project before the fiber arts group meets on Friday.

You are plugging along! That is going to be quite the spider army when you're done.

This sounds like an excellent plan

Yesterday I worked on my bralette. I'd finished the right side & was working on the I cord strap. I tried it on to check the strap length & found that the strap length was correct but I hadn't made the body long enough. I have quite a large chest so I should have made it longer.

I tried to do a 3 needle bind off to attach the strap but that didn't work out. Likely due to not having the same # of stitches & this being my first time using this technique. I got it back to where it was & then put it down for the night.

I'm not sure if i should try to decrease a stitch on the strap or increase a stich on the body part that is supposed to connect with the strap. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, I appreciate that!

I'm trying to keep myself motivated as this will be probably the most work-heavy baby book I've ever made. Well, save for this one perhaps. But at least for Baby Emma's journal I had lots of ready-made parts. For the current one... not so much. Nearly everything has to be made by hand.

Sometimes a new project is like a breath of fresh air. Just don't walk into the same trap I did with making 3 baby books simultaneously in early Spring.

That is exactly the kind of trap I am looking to avoid. And I have a history of walking right into them.

I know what a pain it can be to have to make all your embellishments by hand. I wish you luck!

Hehe, they should :)

My fingers have wings!

I have a pattern for a shawl I want to try. It looks like it's in my skill set, but we'll see. That's part of the reason I want to get it started before group, I don't like starting an unknown pattern with an audience XD

Thanks!
Friday, May 26th, 2023 09:08 am (UTC)
That could be cool
Friday, May 26th, 2023 09:11 am (UTC)
Thanks! (The way the pattern is written scares me, but the video tutorial for it has simplified it so far.)

If it doesn't work, you could always claim it to be abstract art ;)
Sunday, May 28th, 2023 08:19 am (UTC)
It would be fun
