Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Oh, love, I wish I could send you my box of felt rests! Unfortunately, we'd both get taxed up to our ears; it's just not worth it. :(

Today I was more housewife-y than crafty. Nonetheless, I practiced a bit of my knitting (and botched up the pattern completely - all that counting required makes my head spin!) and tried to select some more craft paper for the upcoming baby book. I'm still not satisfied with my stock, but it's better than nothing.

Oh, and I've managed to iron out that ugly crease from the textile book's outer cover... almost completely.

I just keep forgetting how many stitches or rows I've already done for that particular pattern. But it's okay, it was just a practice piece. Besides, that tiny ball of yarn is nearly gone, so I'll finish off this piece and start a different one. Yarn rests are good for practicing.

Yesterday I potted some African violets (still increasing to full size so need done more often). This morning I went around sprinkling a little fertilizer on some plants before it began to rain.

Craftwise I'm in planning mode for the doily and the pillowcase sewing project. I didn't order enough fabric for what I meant to do. Sigh.

Glad you got the crease out. Probably the knitting pattern will come easier later when you don't have to think about making the stitches so much.

Yeah, going for a checkered pattern when I was still trying to get the simplest stitches right was probably a bit too ambitious. Fortunately, this is just leftover yarn and I'm not trying to make something that will actually get used, so I can make stupid mistakes for the time being.

The local fabric shop (independent quilt shop, really) doesn't have any emery berries. Is that what they are called? They had pincushions, but not the old fashioned tomato type with the little berry on the end of a string. A thing for needle care. I always called it the strawberry. (Why is there a strawberry on the tomato plant anyway?!)

I could order one from the good fabric store in the city but the shipping would be more than twice the cost of the pincushion. & actually I don't need a pincushion, just the emery berry.

One of the staff at the fabric shop said her gran made her own 'strawberry' and she filled it with . . . hair. What? She said it worked just fine. Is this true?

There's no hurry because I have no strength at all. Love that chronic illness. haha. I will just lie here & stare out the window & feel aspirational about sewing.

A turkey just walked by & this made the cat wake up & get excited.
