Check-In Post March 28th 2023

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

hello!!!! new to this comm :D does anyone have any advice on multi-ball intarsia? i'm currently trying to knit a scarf with vertical stripes of 5 different colors joined using intarsia but dealing with the yarn twisting and tangling is an enormous pain

When I've had multiple balls joined to a project, I've had them in a basket on its side and paused regularly to rearrange. Kept them stable so there wasn't the added problem of the skeins falling off the couch or being sat on by the dog.

yeahhhh i've started + frogged + restarted a few times now, and untangling regularly definitely is the Right Way but i'm lazy and i don't want to keep doing that over and over :"( plus, yes, having the yarn out and about has presented separate issues with my cat going "oh, For Me? :3" so a basket or container is a really good idea

yeah it's realll tangly :"( i'm trying to do a 1x1 rib instead of stockinette or garter which means that it's not joining right either i don't think? aughh. i'm experimenting with some scrap yarn now to see if it will look really dumb to do all the stripes separate and then seamlessly join afterwards...
i'm making my SO this scarf from an anime he likes (yuru camp)!! so in theory not a complicated project but it's proving a real pain

yes it's very cute!! i'm excited. that's a good thought, definitely some sort of Yarn Container needs to happen

i did a little test swatch and unfortunately a 2x2 rib is not the look i want :( i think you're right on the join being more secure that way, though. hrmm.
