Check-In Post January 29th 2023

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Today I finished the front cover of the "Hello Kitty" booklet, and in a sudden bout of madness I started to cut out the bases of four other booklets. I've got five recipients, between the age of two and eight, either sisters or cousins of each other - it won't do for one of them to get a treat while the other one doesn't, right?

I decided to go into mass production mode - meaning that I won't complete one booklet and then go on to the other one. Instead, I'll do one phase at a time... or rather five times. That proved to be easier by other projects that required the same things to be done repeatedly.

Yesterday and today I finally got to do a little work on the cross stitch. Given the vast quantity of ad breaks in DoI, I even made progress then!

Finished up a small cross stitch piece and finally dragged out a piece I'd begun but messed up within a few stitches -- I'd put it down because I got overwhelmed, but figured even messed up I could do something to finish it especially given that I hadn't messed up too badly. Sometimes just have to carry on I guess.

I've been working on my cardigan in small chunks today. I put it down where I can't see it but I still have 3-4 rows to go. Yesterday was a really pretty day. There was another clean-up day at Neighbor John's, I sat on the south side of the house in the sun, pulling nails and staples out of cedar shingles that they are going to feed through the wood chipper and make mulch.

Tonight we made almond flour pancakes. I really should have thought about them being more like bean or crab cakes, not pancakes. I think will do better next time. They're filling and were good with a little butter and jam.

I got a lot done on the kontusz. Gold trim on the jacket itself (armhole trim to do yet.) I got the button loops made and the tassels started. They don't quite match the gold across the chest but maybe it's not noticeable. I may need to speak to the guy who I'm sewing this for and see what he thinks.

Quickly checking in on my way to bed, I added about 10 more rows to the scarf while watching 1950s Superman.

I also looked at several other projects, and actually picked up and handled a couple of them, but I did not work on them.
