Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

I've finished the heads of the next 4 little angels and decided to make another 3 of the things, so that I'll end up with a total of 15. Folded and stitched the last 3 bodies. The rest can wait until tomorrow... as well as the search of one misplaced little angel that seems to have escaped from the bunch.

Things I did, things I plan to do...

I was looking at reusable make-up remover pads this afternoon and thought "that's silly, I can knit those." So I'm digging through my face cloth cotton scraps and will probably do some of those.

At the moment, though, I'm finishing off a pair of socks I found in a project bag - one sock done, and the other half done.

I have ambitions to do visible mending on a lot of my shirts. I seem to wear little holes in the stomach of many of my shirts - I'm not really sure why there of all places, but it's pretty consistent. I also have a favorite cardigan that is wearing at the cuffs. Maybe I can add some reinforced stitching? Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about wearing obviously mended clothing (issues with status obsessed parent growing up) but I want to try it because it seems a shame to throw them out on account of a little hole and I like the idea of visible mending.

Visible mending sounds good - especially for small holes, where there's enough good material to attach the mending to.

That sounds like a good idea, and yay for socks!

I'm generating a stack of things for mending too; things sprout holes all the time.

You can always unpick the cuff ribbing and knit a new cuff from the sleeve end downwards. I've done that before.

The cardi is a store bought thing with tiny knit fabric, so not as sure if I can do that easily. I may just embroider something decorative on the cuffs.

Ah, yes, machine knits don't really lend themselves to my method. A bit of decorative embroidery could work though.

What about patches in various forms, like teddies or hearts or whatnot? I mean for the t-shirts, not for the cardi.

Getting the last half sock out of the way sounds like a good idea. It can stop taking up needles and the project bag.

I did a little bit of weeding first thing this morning, but that was it. Haven't been feeling great so I've mostly been editing fanfic, doing jigsaws, and sorting computer files. Hoping to get an early night tonight.

The never ending (weeding) story. A quiet day sounds good.

Weeding is by definition never ending. There's always another dozen coming up somewhere.

I needed time to reflect over the sad news anyway. It'll be strange having a king.

I understand he's not going to change his name, I think that's best. And I have always liked the name Charles.

It's just... King Charles is a kind of Spaniel, which makes it feel a bit weird. We'll adjust, but there has been a Queen on the throne since before I was born. It's hard to get my head around.

Errr... a Spaniel? I'm not sure I understand.
But the Queen was certainly one of a kind - everyone would have a hard time to follow her.

There's a breed of dog called the King Charles Spaniel, and that's where my brain goes every time someone mentions King Charles. It's very confusing.

So, I did a swirly heart in thread (ornament size, definitely needs starched). It looks fine but I was leaning towards the little tree ornaments instead, because I have to glance at the chart constantly to stay on the right stitch, where some other patterns you'd just remember after making a couple.



The tree? Seriously couldn't follow the pattern *at all.* I tried to just look at the photo and replicate, but I did something incorrect that was going to make it end at the wrong spot to add the trunk. May spend a small amount of time looking at other ornaments before I decide to stick with the hearts.

I had a sweater pattern a while back that I struggled to follow. I don't know why some get written in such hard to understand ways.

Because the author doesn't really want you to be able to copy. They just pretend. *g*

It was published in a knitting magazine, and I think they should have tried knitting the sweater before publishing the pattern...
