Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: We all probably have multiple WiPs, but which of yours has been hanging around longest, waiting to be finished?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I've finished decorating the biscuits and boxed them. Currently I'm trying to pick one of my planned/unfinished project to work on. No actual decision yet. *g*

A couple of hours on a car ride netted me pretty good progress on my blanket and also fun times chatting with friends, so I am quite pleased. Managed about four rows and am on row 34/55.

I may just need to make a copy-paste joke for the days I don't do anything it'd feel less awkward sometimes to be able to say I did fuck all to the tune of if you're happy and you know it

solidly over halfway there!

I spent the late afternoon chatting with friends on Zoom and finishing up another cat bed. I didn't think I'd get one done this week and I'm happy that was not the case.

Just finished pinning in and sewing the reinforcing band around the medieval gowne for my niece! I've done the two little eyelets for the brooch closure too. Woo! One job finished.

Help help I've fallen into a trap!
There's a second-hand clothing/fabric/yarn/sewing supplies shop that also hosts DIY workshops near the public library and on this sunny Saturday afternoon they set a couple of chairs on the sidewalk, a pair of knitting needles with a few rows cast on each plus a sign saying "come sit down, knit and join our collaborative project!"
(the project being knitted covers for the streetposts in as many colours and stitches and knitting styles as they can)
so uh "a couple of garter rows to get going" quickly became "oh and half a dozen of ribbed rows because I can".

The main thing is not to stress about not doing something - (says the person who frequently has nothing to report) - the purpose of crafting is to relax and enjoy and if you don't get something done on a particular day *shrug* normally doesn't matter - having said that, we all do set ourselves goals and deadlines at times. Hopefully you'll have some good days with plenty to report soon. No harm in having a joke at the ready though *grin*

What a lovely idea! And know when you see them out and about, you'll know that you were part of that collaborative project. I love it!

Headway has been made on the second scrapbook. I'm kind of amazed just how much this is taking up - I'm only about 9 days into my journey with about 5 of them spent on a train with not much happening and I've already well into the second book. I have everything written up and mostly planned to the end of the time in Mongolia (probably about another 10 or 12 pages) and the next leg of the train journey into China. The next step is to sort the next set of photos for my time in China - this will be a bit of a mix (and a bit of a challenge/expense) - firstly because I was in China for roughly 3 months - there are parts of my time there that I expect to generate both a lot of writing and a lot of photos and other parts where I don't expect there to be all that much to say - I'm kind of pondering because much as I loved most of my time in China and most of the people that I met, there were a few bad experiences too and I'm kind of torn between just omitting them - which then isn't a true reflection of my full experience - or including some of the things that happened and having them written down as a permanent record that casts a shadow on the good times... - I am probably erring on the including. The other issue is that I transferred all the photos to CD/DVD and now my latest laptop doesn't have a drive so I need to track down - and work out what device the photo shop now uses to print them out! (I tried printing some myself last time, but it wasn't as good as when the shop did them - and even more expensive in the long run).

7 rows on a blanket is a lot of work! Good job!
