I think it depends on what browser you use. I can do it on Microsoft edge, but I'm not sure if it works on all browsers. If I have a window open, I right click on the arrow that takes you back to a previous page, select Manage History, which takes me to that page, then click the little dustbin icon that says Delete Browsing History if you hover your cursor over it. Then it's just a case of selecting what you want to delete.
I think in older versions, I had to go to the three little dots in the top righthand corner of the browser window and look through all the options until I found Delete Browsing History, then select what I wanted to delete, usually browsing history, download history, cached images, and cookies. It can sign you out of various sites though, so you need to know your passwords to log back in again.
