I've played the entire mainline of Final Fantasy, along with several of the spin-offs. They're ALL worth playing, and as a FFXIV player, you'd probably delight in seeing where all the influences come from:
* Crystal Tower sequence is FFIII * Endwalker and its patches are FFIV * Omega raids take influence from FFV & VI * Eden raids are inspired by FFVIII * Alexander plays a key role in FFIX * Van'diel raids made this former FFXI shriek from all the references * Ivalice raids are from FFXII & Tactics
There's other smaller references too. The concept of the Warrior of Light is from Final Fantasy 1, for example, though other games in the franchise use that name, too.
And I am adding you to my reading list as well as giving you access to my journal, since most of my stuff is posted locked. No need to give access back to yours unless you want to.
