Hi there

I'm babs and love knitting. I also spin although my spinning mojo has deserted me for some time. The other two hobbies I have as far as creativity goes are diamond painting and fanfic writing.

Currently I'm working on the Joy Cardigan from Laine magazine. I'm using Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in Artifact which is a lovely dark smoky gray. I just finished another sweater in a chunky weight Shetland yarn from Liverpool Yarns. That sweater is a pullover in a pattern called Shamokin Pullover. I also have finished a poncho in a naturally colored Shetland that self striped.

I enjoy knitting socks, shawls, and lately sweaters (which I always avoided before).

I probably have enough yarn to last for many many years and am on a yarn diet until next spring at least. My fiber stash is also large and I want to really tackle some spinning this winter.

I have some Brooklyn Tweed yarn for another sweater also--Weekender Light. I made the regular Weekender and it is my favorite sweater ever--so comfy. I wouldn't call myself a yarn snob but I do prefer wool over anything else, mainly because the way wool feels when I knit with it--and I prefer non superwash wool over superwash except for socks.

Welcome, fellow knitter! And spinning too, wow! I'm curious about the diamond painting, what does that entail?

I must admit I'm the opposite when it comes to yarn. As much as I love pure wool, the one sweater I made with it got destroyed by moths so these days it's hardwearing 100% acrylic yarns for me. I had to throw out all the pure wool in my stash because it had been reduced to scraps by the moth infestation.

Your yarn looks lovely, I hope you'll post some pics when the cardigan is finished.

I've never knitted socks, always preferred sweaters, although I started out with baby clothes when my sister told me I was to be an auntie. I love fancy stitches, cables and lace patterns, not keen on stocking stitch although that's best for some yarns like the blobby stuff I'm using for one sweater.

You certainly sound like a keen knitter, making a lot of items. I presume you do quite a bit each day to be so productive.

I tried spinning once and very much enjoyed it but wasn't very good at it, but I think with time I could be.

I am the opposite - I avoid knitting socks but enjoy knitting simple sweaters.

Good luck with your projects!
