A couple of weeks ago we adopted some ex-commercial hens from a rescue organization. One of the girls was so featherless she looked practically oven ready! Her feathers are starting to come in, but after the last week after we got them being sunny and lovely, we’re going into a freezing patch again. (Snow showers predicted in the next hour!) The answer? Chicken jumpers!
But I didn’t have time to knit one, so I got an old acrylic jumper (store bought) that the Enting had outgrown from storage, spent the evening cutting out the pieces and sewing them together. It’s not particularly attractive and I’m not sure it’s going to last very long, but hopefully it’ll make it a few days so she can stay a bit more comfortable until (hopefully) the temperature goes up again.
