I did a splendid and *very* overdue thing this week: buttonholes. Years ago—at least twenty, perhaps more—I knitted this jacket (link goes to Ravelry), but had too much misery trying to do the buttonholes and ended up by making little yarn loops instead.
Over the intervening years these loops, not surprisingly, have gradually died.
Well, I bit the bullet and got down to it. Had to frog about half of the edging (which to my surprise, as I did not remember this, was double thickness) and re-knit it leaving proper holes for the buttons. It took me quite a lot of the day! But I have triumphed and now have a double-thick chunky jacket that I can fasten! \o/
